modern coastal living room
In this home I designed a relaxing and elegant minimalist living room as part of my Theory and Technique of Interior Design. Minimalist designs have confidence in their forms and this reminded of how calligrapher can create the perfect line in one motion. So I wanted to create forms based on perfect soft waters. Like undulating lines in a river carving its place into the Earth.

The client requested the inclusion of the song “Ebb Tide”. It uses imagery of waves racing in and planting a kiss on the shore to convey the longing of separated lovers. Inspired by this yearning for contact I wanted to create a piece that would react to touch. The waves flow down the wall and into the floor tile. When walked across and touched by hand it beams and glows. To convey the lighting effect I created a mockup utilizing the different opacities of paper and transparency film.
