About

After taking an Intro to Architecture elective my freshman year of art school I fell in love with spatial design. I loved the ability to craft unique experiences and conjure powerful emotions. And I studied not just 3D design, but also 2D design in my drawing, painting, and graphic design classes. I noticed no matter the subject composition or a harmonious design that communicates original intent was always the goal. And so I carried my eye into my dream career path.

At first, I pursued architecture, but preferred interior design’s closer connection to the end user. Thinking of their unique use of a space and then engaging their five senses satisfied my altruistic values. There is an immediate reaction to a space, but it can have long reaching impact. I want to build environments that support physical, emotional, and psychological needs.

This compassionate approach addresses air quality, efficiency, day lighting, and pollution issues designers can help solve. In studying for the LEED Green Associate exam reignited my passion for green living. I’ve been vegan for 12 years and organic gardening for 5, but this past year I’ve found new ways to lessen my waste and reconsider personal products I buy. One step might feel insignificant to solve all the world’s problem, but one motion can cause a rippling effect on others.

In viewing my portfolio and sketchbook/blog I hope my peers in art and design can find solutions they didn’t consider before. I love trying out different design styles but infuse elements of art and architectural history. I research a site’s social context to explain why and how people live there today. Too, I showcase my skills in drafting, rendering, space planning, and estimating and examples of mood boards, floor plans, and perspectives. I love viewing the behind the scenes of other creatives because going outside your comfort zone ignites inspiration. So please check in as I document projects and sketch the environments around me.
