Flaming June residence
The challenge in this renovation was to develop a design concept for an open concept kitchen, 2nd floor hallway, 3 bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms. I was to select paint, wallcoverings, molding, flooring, counter tops, and a custom shower tile layout for the master bathroom. The $100,000 budget would include my personal fee and a contingency fund that would later go on to cover discovered terminate damage. So, for selections the actual budget was $76,000.
So I aimed for creating an indulgent and relaxing residence inspired by the Arts & Crafts style. The vibrancy and richness of the painting “Flaming June” by Sir Frederic Leighton drew me into this inviting style. I prioritized the 1st Floor Family & Kitchen and the 2nd Floor Master Bathroom as these spaces are the pinnacle of public entertaining and private.
I balanced rich selections like burgundy and gold fabric wall covering with soothing Bradbury forest green wallpaper. Further I utilized Arts and Crafts motifs and proportions like fan tiles and diamonds to provide structure and lead the eye throughout the space. Thus, creating a space that envelopes and soothes the user into slumber.
